Indiaโs long-delayed Project-75(I) is reportedly nearing its final approval stage, with the proposal for six advanced conventional submarines expected to reach the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) in the coming days.
๐ฎ๐ณ Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (MDL) and ๐ฉ๐ช thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) are set to jointly build the submarines in India, with technology transfer and Air-Independent Propulsion (AIP) capability.
The project is expected to significantly strengthen the Indian Navyโs underwater warfare capabilities and boost indigenous submarine manufacturing.
The โน70,000-crore figure refers to the currently reported project value; the final contract has not yet been signed.
