A snake-shaped robot is being used to inspect 10-kilovolt power lines in Kunming, China. Equipped with infrared, thermal and laser sensors, it can detect damaged wires, abnormal heat and other hazards while navigating obstacles.
The technology aims to reduce dangerous manual inspections and improve power-grid maintenance efficiency.
