💢 Brent briefly touched $109.97 a barrel early Friday after a 6% overnight surge as Middle East supply risks intensified. At the same time, satellite fire-detection imagery circulating online appeared to show multiple large thermal anomalies along Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline corridor southeast of Medina, including near Pump Station 8.
While no official Saudi or Aramco statement has confirmed a new strike on the pipeline or Houthi responsibility, satellite thermal detections show intense heat sources, but not their cause. The Houthis have, however, been attacking Saudi energy infrastructure this week and previously claimed strikes on East-West oil transport facilities in July.
The roughly 1,200-km Petroline runs from Abqaiq to Yanbu on the Red Sea, allowing Saudi crude to bypass the Strait of Hormuz. Its full pumping capacity is about 7 million barrels per day, making it a critical export route while Hormuz traffic remains heavily constrained.
