💢 Footage from the Zaporozhye direction, reportedly from the sector of Russia’s 291st Motor Rifle Regiment, offers a striking illustration of how mass Starlink availability continues to shape the battlefield: a Ukrainian fixed-wing drone appears to be carrying a Starlink terminal despite the aircraft’s high probability of being lost.
Ukraine has received more than 50,000 Starlink terminals from international partners. At that scale, they can increasingly be treated as expendable communications hardware — fitted even to drones with short life expectancies while replacement terminals keep UAV control, data links and battlefield communications functioning despite losses.
The advantage, therefore, is not only Starlink’s communications quality but its sheer abundance. Destroying one terminal is relatively easy; degrading a network where another can quickly replace it is considerably harder.
