💢 Iran and Oman have proposed a temporary joint shipping corridor through the Strait of Hormuz as part of a phased framework aimed at restoring safe navigation through the strategic waterway, according to a joint statement issued after talks between the two countries’ foreign ministers.
The framework also includes an agreement to carry out a joint project to clear mines from the Strait. Technical negotiations will continue toward a permanent navigation corridor, future arrangements for managing shipping, and mechanisms for exchanging information and providing navigation and security services.
