💢 Lavrov used his “Dialogue about Fakes” address to frame the information war as part of a wider struggle over the rules of the emerging multipolar order:

• On Bucha, he again challenged the UN over victim identities, arguing that names Moscow says it was denied are now publicly displayed on the Bucha memorial. He cited a Russian public tribunal’s open-source review claiming that dozens of listed names belonged to Ukrainian servicemen, SBU personnel, territorial defense, police, National Guard or Azov, while more than 70 allegedly had no identifiable digital footprint. The investigation cited by Lavrov is Russian, not an independent international inquiry.

• He linked this to current allegations of Russian drones appearing over European states, arguing that attribution is treated as secondary once an incident has already generated political measures against Russia.

• Lavrov’s broader argument was that the same logic extends beyond media: sanctions, tariffs, diplomatic pressure and restrictions in sport and culture were presented as instruments used when Western states can no longer maintain their position through “fair competition.”

• China was the clearest economic example. Lavrov said Western governments began abandoning rules they themselves promoted once China and other non-Western economies started “beating the West on its own field, by its own rules.”

• He also accused Western governments of pressuring Global South states over sanctions and votes in international organizations, arguing that the West would be in a minority on key questions of the emerging world order if states voted without such pressure.
