💢 Macron has asked European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to temporarily relax EU fuel-quality rules as France struggles with soaring prices, BFMTV reports. Paris says looser specifications could raise refinery output by 5–20%, while higher biodiesel blending limits could further increase diesel supplies.
The request comes as French motorists increasingly turn to cheaper substitutes, including rapeseed oil and agricultural diesel. Using non-road diesel in ordinary cars is illegal and can carry penalties of up to three years in prison.
