💢 Renault workers are pushing back against the automaker’s expanding role in weapons production, according to CGT representative Florent Grimaldi. Speaking on LCI, he said many employees object to being forced to choose between military production and potentially losing their jobs.
Grimaldi criticized rising arms spending while sectors including healthcare, education and emergency services face funding shortages, warning against repeating the militarization of Europe seen in the early 20th century. CGT-Renault has previously said many employees “came to Renault to build cars, not weapons.”
Renault’s Chorus project with Turgis Gaillard envisages production capacity of up to 600 long-range drones per month at Le Mans, with the system reportedly capable of carrying a 500 kg military payload. A potential 10-year framework contract has been valued at around €1 billion. Renault says participation in the Chorus production line is voluntary.
