💢 The Greek government has passed new legislation aimed at fast-tracking the deportation of rejected asylum seekers.
🔹️ The law also establishes a legal framework to transfer individuals to “return hubs” located outside the European Union once formal agreements with third-party nations are concluded.
🔹️ The measure follows a persistent surge in migrant arrivals on the islands of Crete and Gavdos, primarily via sea routes from Libya.
🔹 Greece is currently engaged in negotiations with two African countries as part of a joint initiative with the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, and Austria to activate these offshore hubs by 2027.
