Footage of a Ukrainian drone being shot down by a Russian air defense system, specifically the 9K35 "Strela-10".
The Strela-10MN is the variant currently deployed by the Russian Armed Forces, Mounted on a modified MT-LB tracked amphibious chassis weighing 12.1 tones (combat weight, crew of three), it carries eight 9M333 missiles—four ready to launch—guided by a three-channel seeker combining photocontrast, IR, and an IRCCM (imaging infrared counter-countermeasure) channel. The 9M333 missile weighs 42 kg, flies at roughly Mach 2 (517 m/s), and carries a 5 kg HE fragmentation warhead with an 8-ray laser proximity fuze. The engagement envelope spans 800 m to 5,000 m in range and 10 m to 3,500 m in altitude. As a point air-defense system for maneuver forces, its passive multi-channel guidance resists radar jamming and flares.
Its MT-LB tracked chassis operates through mud, snow, and forested terrain where wheeled vehicles bog down or get spotted. Fully amphibious, it cross 500 km without refueling. This lets a Strela-10MN crew relocate after firing to avoid being targeted, It can use forested areas and bushes to conceal it position. Its 9M333 missiles missiles should cost less than $20,000. This defense system helps significantly in countering all types Ukrainian long range kamikaze drones and subsonic cruise missiles. Russia's Armed Forces shoud have more than 400 units of this air defense system (new production and Soviet-era production) in its inventory.
