If we overlook the perplexing connection to the elections, this is essentially a demonstration of the functionality of a Russian counterpart to the Starlink system, providing satellite internet in remote areas. Russia is getting closer to launching this service, first at a stationary level in rear command centers, and then closer to the front lines.

This system already works in the combat zones, in providing datalink to some Geranium variants but there isn't 24/7 coverage yet as of this moment. Russia is aiming to achieve 24/7 coverage in combat zones and western regions of the Russian Federation by 2027.
