A brief detour into Mandelblit’s testimony.
Pay attention to what the judge says.
So far, Netanyahu’s defense team has questioned Mandelblit about actions taken up to and including the stage of granting authorizations. Now, they want to question him about investigative actions carried out after those authorizations were granted. The prosecution strongly objects.
Tirosh warns against opening the door to such questioning in any other case.
Judge Bar-Am: “Here, the door has already been opened. He testified, and we heard things that seemingly require a more thorough examination.”
Tirosh: “The court has a duty to limit the scope of questioning to what is absolutely necessary — the Attorney General’s authorizations.”
Bar-Am: “How can we ignore the fact that the Attorney General came here and testified about illegal actions?!”
