**Battalion 52 Commander, Lt. Col. Dor Ben Shamchon, of blessed memory**
Lt. Col. Dor, of blessed memory, assumed command of Battalion 52 on April 20, 2026, about a week after the battalion commander, Lt. Col. Y., was severely wounded in combat. Dor took command at a complex and challenging time, leading the battalion’s soldiers with determination and responsibility throughout the past two months of fighting.
Lt. Col. Dor grew up in the Armored Corps, in the 401st Brigade, where he carried out most of his key command positions during his service.
He was married and the father of two daughters. He came from a family of fighters — he and four of his brothers all enlisted in the 401st Brigade, and another brother joined the Golani Brigade. His wife serves as a combat officer in the Combat Intelligence Collection and Border Defense Corps.
When needed, Lt. Col. Dor stepped up and took command of the battalion during the difficult moments of battle.
Last night, he fell in combat while leading his soldiers at the front, together with his tank crew — three additional soldiers who fell by his side.
