Despite statements by Netanyahu and Katz:
IDF commanders have been significantly restricted in Lebanon, and now soldiers are allowed to open fire only in response to an immediate threat — unless they receive direct approval from the Chief of Staff, according to a New York Times report citing two Israeli sources.
In addition, without authorization from senior officers, IDF soldiers are prohibited from demolishing houses and infrastructure within the security zone.
