Despite the setback, talks are underway within the “Change Bloc” to replace the Speaker of the Knesset. The bloc’s leaders aim to agree on a candidate and carry out the replacement as early as the Knesset’s swearing-in ceremony.
There is still no agreement on the identity of the candidate. Among the names raised in recent days are Oded Forer and Elazar Stern.
