Exclusive: Smotrich and Feiglin in advanced talks to run together in a technical bloc
Even before the failure of Netanyahu’s initiative to unite Itamar Ben-Gvir’s Otzma Yehudit with Bezalel Smotrich’s Religious Zionism party, entirely separate negotiations for a merger have been underway.
The chairman of Religious Zionism is in advanced talks to join forces with Moshe Feiglin’s Zehut party in a technical bloc.
Feiglin is expected to receive the realistic No. 2 spot on the slate, as well as the 8th and 10th spots, although the matter has yet to be finalized.
Zehut, led by Feiglin, ran once, in 2019. Despite favorable polls, it collapsed at the last moment and failed to clear the electoral threshold, winning about 3% of the vote. According to current polls, it enjoys support of around 1%, which effectively justifies reserving a spot for Feiglin. >
