Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff of his decision to appoint Brigadier General Guy Markizano as his Military Secretary.
Brig. Gen. Markizano will be promoted to the rank of Major General and will replace Maj. Gen. Roman Gofman, who was appointed by the Prime Minister to head the Mossad.
Brig. Gen. Markizano has served as commander of the 405th Battalion, an artillery brigade, commander of the 209th Fire Brigade and the 215th Fire Brigade, head of the Planning Department in the Ground Forces Command, and chief of staff of the Northern Command.
In his most recent position, Brig. Gen. Markizano served as the Military Secretary to the Minister of Defense.
Brig. Gen. Markizano has gained extensive experience in coordinating between the political and military echelons, and therefore will be able to assume his new role immediately without a transition period.
