"Gaza Flotilla Activists" Discover That Libyan Prison Is Much Harder Than Israeli Prison

Organizers of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla Complain: The activists of the "Gulf Humanitarian Convoy to Gaza" were arrested in Libya by the regime of Khalifa Haftar and are being treated particularly harshly.

This is the message issued by the flotilla organizers:

"We have received with great concern direct and documented testimonies from members of the 'International Land Humanitarian Convoy', who have been held in Benghazi, Libya for the past ten days, according to which the issue of their detention is entering a particularly dangerous phase, requiring immediate international intervention before it is too late.

Serious warning signs:

Based on telephone conversations with the detainees, we present the following facts to public opinion and the international community:

▪️ Hunger and thirst strike – the detainees have launched a full and unlimited hunger strike, which also includes abstaining from drinking. This has led to cases of fainting and a serious deterioration in their health, especially among the women, against the backdrop of a complete lack of medical care. The detained doctors are forced to provide primary care to their comrades despite their exhaustion.

▪️ Conditions of detention – the participants are held in secret, non-civilian detention facilities, known as "sites "Black Sites", with complete isolation from the outside world.

▪️ Violation of rights during interrogation – The members of the convoy are subjected to intensive interrogations using methods that arouse suspicion. They are interrogated as if they were "security targets" under the charge of "prohibited assembly", focusing on questions about their humanitarian activities and their ties to Gaza – in a manner reminiscent of illegal interrogation methods.

▪️ Psychological pressure – The local authorities are exerting psychological pressure on them through false promises of release on the one hand, and threats of show trials (which are allegedly expected to begin this coming Tuesday) on the other, which is leading to a breakdown in their mental state.

Message to the authorities holding the detainees:

"The continued detention of doctors and humanitarian workers, while risking their lives by depriving them of food and water and the lack of medical care, is an act that has no legal or moral justification. These steps will have international repercussions that will not contribute to the image of the institutions you seek to build."

It is interesting that we do not hear the heads of EU states shouting and issuing official statements against Libya as they did when the flotilla activists were detained in Israel...
Libya is a key country in stopping waves of migrants to Europe....Europeans are careful with their dignity...
