Good morning from Galilee!
The American people have spoken. America must come to terms with how much its electorate has changed and what that could mean for future elections.
One factor I believe is often overlooked is bloc voting. In Michigan, Muslim voters may rally behind a Muslim candidate they see as a voice for their community. In Minnesota, Somali American voters may do the same for a Somali American candidate. In a close race, that kind of support can make the difference.
Now look at what happened in three states Republicans counted on.
Greg Abbott’s top donor was a Pakistani Muslim.
Texas has the fastest-growing Muslim population in America and the largest number of new mosques.
He thought he could appease Muslims and win their votes. In the end, they voted him out.
In Florida, Republicans held on to both offices, but the margins were slim. Byron Donalds narrowly defeated David Jolly in the governor’s race, and Ashley Moody held the U.S. Senate seat by about three percentage points over Angie Nixon. Just four years ago, Ron DeSantis won reelection by nearly 20 points.
And in South Carolina, what was supposed to be a stroll in the park for Darline Graham, Lindsey Graham’s sister, turned into a bitter defeat. Democrat Annie Andrews flipped the Senate seat. In my view, Graham was the wrong candidate for the job and ran a terrible campaign.
Republicans have a lot of soul-searching to do.
One thing I’m sure of is that the woke right will blame these losses on the war with Iran and, from there, find a way to make it Israel’s fault. What can I say? If we can get blamed for a train crash in Spain, I suppose we can take this one too.
The 2026 midterms may be just the appetizer. The main course is the 2028 presidential election. If the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) consolidate their influence and more of their allies move into key positions, they will have a greater say in whom the party nominates and what policies it pursues. Americans should insist on transparency and accountability at every stage of the election process.
Sadly, I believe the next swing of the pendulum could be more turbulent. If Americans see socialism, Islamist extremism, and antisemitism gaining ground in their country, how long can we expect the silent majority to stay silent?
For believers, I pray that the coming years will be a wake-up call to return to God, stand firmly on His Word, and hold fast to sound doctrine.
The days are evil, and we must redeem the time! (Ephesians 5:16)
