Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has threatened to respond to any Iranian attack on Israel by striking Iran’s key energy facilities. Until now, Israel has refrained from doing so because of an American veto.

The warning that Israel will respond in this way to any attack is highly significant and likely reflects either an assessment or intelligence indicating that Iran is seriously considering an attack on Israel.

Katz stated:

“Given the possibility that Iran’s leaders may decide to act against Israel because of the economic stranglehold and intense pressure they are facing, I once again warn the Iranian leadership: Any attack on Israel, for any reason and from any location, will be met with a powerful response.

“It will inflict severe damage on Iran unlike anything it has suffered before, including strikes on its key energy facilities, which provide resources and capabilities for Iran’s war and terrorist apparatus and its attacks against Israeli civilians.

“In accordance with the directives of the prime minister and my own instructions, the IDF is on high alert and fully prepared to carry out the mission.

“Such a blow would set Iran back by decades and further destabilize the ayatollah regime, which the Iranian people deeply despise and long to see fall.”
