Today marks the first anniversary of Charlie Kirk’s tragic death at the hands of an evil, progressive, liberal young man whose mind had been poisoned by ideology.
In 2022, my father-in-law passed away while traveling with me on a ministry tour in Italy. He died in his hotel bed shortly before his 74th birthday. When I found him the following morning, lying there lifeless, several hours had already passed since his massive heart attack.
As I struggled against bureaucracy and the absurdity of insurance companies in my efforts to bring his body home, a process that took nearly a week, I found myself pondering Isaiah 57:1–2:
“The righteous perishes,
And no man takes it to heart;
Merciful men are taken away,
While no one considers
That the righteous is taken away from evil.
He shall enter into peace;
They shall rest in their beds,
Each one walking in his uprightness.”
I asked myself: What was my precious father-in-law, who had been like a father to me, taken away from? What was he spared from seeing?
Then came October 7, and it all became clear to me.
The things we are witnessing today concerning Charlie’s death, and even more so the direction some of his former friends and colleagues have taken, would have broken his heart.
He was able to see the America for which he fought. America has changed since then.
On the 25th anniversary of September 11, the Big Apple is now governed by a Shiite Muslim who is friends with people who praised that horrific terrorist attack.
Consider the sheer lunacy and strong delusion of our time: women siding with a woman who murdered her own babies, members of the LGBTQ community standing with rapists and murderers, and socialism experiencing a disturbing renaissance.
Charlie was spared from seeing all of this.
He fought the good fight. He finished his race. He kept the faith. It was his time to go home.
Charlie was taken from us while still young, but he left behind a remarkable legacy, one that the enemy hates deeply.
Today, I choose to remember that legacy and to pray for a new wave of spiritual awakening across America.
Awaiting His Soon Return,
Amir
