Israir passenger aircraft is said to have landed today at a military base in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in an attempt to change its route and land in Croatia, after authorities in Slovenia reportedly did not approve the landing.

The authorities in Ljubljana refuse to allow Israeli aircraft to land on their soil due to their opposition to the Israeli government’s policies.

This concerns the explanation of the dispute between the regional union’s policies. In Israel, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Civil Aviation Authority are involved in the matter, but so far attempts to carry out the planned flight have not succeeded.

The Transportation Ministry immediately responded:

“It is a political decision that harms direct service to Israeli citizens. Anyone trying to isolate us through transportation routes must understand that we will be there for all passengers.”

The ministry added that “Israel will not stand idly by and will act against all tools used to harm its interests.”

Slovenia is currently under a political transition.

The government in Ljubljana, which recognized a Palestinian state on June 4, 2024, and adopted anti-Israel measures, has appointed a new prime minister. Former President Janez Janša, considered a supporter of Israel, is expected to return to a position of influence in the government.
