Major General Roman Grofman is the new head of the Mossad.

Prime Minister Netanyahu at the ceremony marking the transition of leadership at the Mossad:

A foreign child, speaking with a Russian accent—you know what happens to children in such situations. But Roman forged his own path, and by the age of 17 he was already the runner-up in the national youth boxing championships. Not bad, Roman. A sign of things to come.

Roman, you overcame every obstacle. You surmounted every challenge on the way to this appointment. And now you are officially being appointed as Israel’s 14th Mossad director. I congratulate you in my name and in the name of the entire people of Israel. Go forth and succeed!

You said, ‘Let us win—put us to work!’ I discovered that after I had already discovered you. I saw the actions before I heard the words. Then I saw the video. In that now-famous video, you addressed senior IDF officers and said, ‘Let us win—put us to work!’ Some sat there smiling. Some even chuckled. But you were not deterred. You instilled a spirit of victory in every position you held.

Roman brought tremendous value to the role of Military Secretary to the Prime Minister. You demonstrated an impressive ability to learn, sharp analytical thinking, a comprehensive grasp of the overall battlefield picture while maintaining attention to detail, exceptional strategic ingenuity, and, no less important, a relentless desire for victory.”
