My heart goes out to all those who screamed themselves hoarse against the “coalition of draft dodgers” and are now shocked that the left would give the ultra-Orthodox everything they want.

What exactly is new here, my sweet, innocent souls?

When the left campaigned against the “gas robbery,” it wasn’t interested in sharing the profits from natural gas. It wanted to bring down Netanyahu.

When the left campaigned over the “submarine affair,” it wasn’t interested in rooting out corruption. It wanted to bring down Netanyahu.

When the left campaigned on “bribery, fraud, and breach of trust,” it wasn’t interested in justice. It wanted to bring down Netanyahu.

When the left campaigned against judicial reform, it wasn’t interested in saving democracy. It wanted to bring down Netanyahu’s government.

And when the left campaigned to bring the hostages home “NOW!” it encouraged Hamas to harden its demands. Because its real interest was bringing down Netanyahu.

When the left campaigned against “Qatari agents in the prime minister’s office,” it wasn’t demanding that retired left-wing generals stop making fortunes selling defense technologies to Qatar. It wanted to bring down Netanyahu.

And now, the left has built its entire election campaign around fighting the “draft-dodging bloc,” only for us to discover that it never actually intended to draft the ultra-Orthodox. It intended - act surprised! - only to bring down Netanyahu.

What else has to happen before you realize that the alliance of the left, the prosecution, the Supreme Court, and the media is playing you for useful idiots?

The Israeli left has no principles. Only interests.
