The IDF Chief of Staff said today:

“We are in a tense and volatile period across all fronts, and we are preparing for the upcoming holiday season. We continue to learn lessons, and as I have stated, the fundamental state of the entire Israel Defense Forces is readiness for a surprise attack.”

These words were not chosen by accident.

The Jerusalem Post reported that, according to Israeli intelligence assessments, Iran is working to coordinate its forces and proxies for a simultaneous multi-front assault on Israel. Tehran reportedly wants to avoid the lack of coordination that prevented Yahya Sinwar’s October 7 attack from developing into the regional war he had anticipated.

My assessment is that Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and the Iranian-backed militias in Iraq may be seeking an opportunity to deliver one coordinated and synchronized blow against Israel.

They understand that time is working against them.

Hezbollah has been severely weakened and is losing strategic assets. Hamas has been devastated. Iran is under growing military and economic pressure, while the entire axis is steadily losing capabilities.

They may therefore conclude that they must use whatever strength they have left before it is too late.

This does not necessarily mean that a final decision to attack has already been made. However, the working assumption must be that the enemy may attempt to create one massive, multi-front shock - missiles and drones from Iran, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iraq, combined with attacks from Gaza, Judea and Samaria, and possibly inside Israel and abroad.

They failed to fully synchronize the attack on October 7.

They may now try again - using whatever power remains before Israel destroys it.
