The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, which is closely aligned with Hezbollah, reported - citing its own sources - the four demands Israel allegedly presented during the fifth round of negotiations with Lebanon, which opened yesterday in Washington:

▪️The Lebanese Army would assume control of the Ali al-Taher Ridge, expel Hezbollah operatives from the area, and dismantle all Hezbollah infrastructure there under American supervision. Once these steps are completed, the IDF would withdraw from the villages of Tebnine and Zawtar.

▪️The return of the remains of Israeli navigator Ron Arad in exchange for Hezbollah prisoners currently held in Israel.

▪️Israel would maintain its presence in the “security zone,” with no Lebanese access permitted - neither for civilians nor for Lebanese military personnel.

▪️Direct communication between the IDF and the Lebanese Army would be established, without intermediaries - namely, bypassing UNIFIL.

These reports, if accurate, suggest that Israel is insisting not only on Hezbollah’s removal from southern Lebanon, but also on maintaining long-term security arrangements and establishing direct military coordination with the Lebanese Army.
