Why do I believe the rise of the Antichrist may not be far away?
Look at Western Europe. In my assessment, Europe as we know it could change beyond recognition within the next five to ten years. That is an assessment of its direction, not a biblical timetable.
The growing influence of political Islam, the failure of the political establishment, the ideological blindness of many young people, and the apathy of those living comfortably are creating conditions for a dramatic backlash.
“Wait a minute, Amir. Are you suggesting that the Antichrist will be a Muslim?”
Not at all!
I believe his rise could come as the answer to a desperate public demanding someone strong enough to restore order, preserve their way of life, and resist political Islam.
A population that sees peace, prosperity, ingenuity, and freedom flourishing does not desperately seek someone to rescue it. But when people believe their security, identity, and future are slipping away, they become vulnerable to anyone promising deliverance.
A quotation commonly attributed to European statesman Paul-Henri Spaak captures that dangerous longing: “Be he god or devil, we will receive him.”
Whether or not that attribution can be authenticated, the danger is real: desperate people can welcome a false savior without examining whose power stands behind him.
Scripture tells us where the Antichrist’s power will come from:
“The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.”
Revelation 13:2, NKJV
“What about believers in Europe, Amir? Isn’t this a message of doom and gloom rather than encouragement?”
Not at all!
First, we must remain busy about our Father’s business. We are called to share the gospel, serve others, and remain faithful:
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
Galatians 6:9, NKJV
Second, our hope is the coming of Messiah Yeshua. I believe Scripture teaches that the church will be gathered to Him before the Antichrist is revealed and the judgments of the Tribulation unfold. Our expectation is a blessed hope:
“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Titus 2:13, NKJV
We do not know the day or the hour. But we know whom we are awaiting, and we know what He has called us to do until He comes.
Remain faithful. Keep doing good. Keep proclaiming the truth. Our future is secure in His hands.
Awaiting His Soon Return – Amir
