Even if you delete messages, use disappearing messages, and completely remove the app, your incoming Signal messages can still remain stored for months in the iOS notification database.

Revealed today by 404 Media: in a real U.S. court case (Prairieland ICE Detention Facility), the FBI was able to recover exactly this data through forensic extraction.

The messages were still neatly preserved in iOS push notification storage.

No conspiracy theory. No hype. Just a technical reality that surfaced in court today.

The 30-second fix (do this now):
Go to Settings > Notifications > Show Previews > Never

Or even better:
in Signal itself > Notifications > Notification Content > No name or content

This is not a niche issue for activists. It affects anyone using Signal for business, sensitive, or personal communication.
