The new State Ethnic Policy Strategy, developed in no small part by this Council, sets the goal of strengthening Russia's national civic identity while preserving the ethnic and cultural diversity, on the basis of intercultural dialogue and respect for traditional religions. The Year of Unity was not merely the fist year of the strategy's implementation but also an actual and vivid presentation of its priorities.
