Swiss company Proton, creator of Proton Mail and Proton VPN, will stop hiring engineers from next year and shift to building products with AI.
By October, 90% of its code was created with AI, according to Andy Yen and Burt Butler. Staff were offered repeat interviews on their use of the technology.
Management dismisses concerns over code safety and quality, calling testing requirements a “loser mindset.” The push comes as Proton trails its recurring annual revenue targets and seeks faster development.
