📒 Fix Telegram yourself
⚫️ Last Friday, we wrote about how deeply Telegram has embraced vibe coding. Comments from developer Mike (@vihor), who said that AI now writes almost all of Telegram’s code, quickly spread across the internet. The reaction was mixed: users pointed to Telegram’s increasingly frequent bugs and blamed at least some of them on vibe coding.
⚫️ Meanwhile, alongside its latest update, Telegram finally updated the open-source code for its macOS client after almost a year — and started accepting community contributions again. Now anyone can fix an annoying bug and submit a pull request on GitHub. If the change gets approved and merged, it could ship in one of the next Telegram releases.
⚫️ Mike is also personally helping contributors in a dedicated chat. Under his guidance, one user vibe-coded a new tab bar in Apple’s Liquid Glass style. Another improved the AI editor so it also works when editing messages that have already been sent. Mike regularly reviews contributors’ work, points out issues, and suggests ways to improve their implementations.
⚫️ Of course, nobody is getting paid for these fixes. But how often do you get to directly contribute to an app used by millions of people — and then see your own code ship just a few hours later? That alone might be a good enough reason to give vibe coding a try.
