German government officials face potential U.S. sanctions for attempting to ban the "Alternative for Germany" (AfD) party. They could be denied entry into the United States.
U.S. Representative Anna Paulina Luna has threatened German politicians.
Her letter, addressed to members of the Thuringia state parliament, was published by the "Focus online" publication and arrived at the committee for legal affairs in early September. Luna plans to discuss the sanctions with Secretary of State Rubio.
Luna's response comes after the "Left" party proposed "initiating the procedure to ban the AfD party."
