In the city of Rostov-on-Don, a resident of the Rostov region has been sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment for treason and joining a terrorist organization.
The Russian citizen was detained by officers of the Border Directorate of the FSB of Russia, together with the regional branch of the FSB of Russia for the Rostov region, on suspicion of treason.
FSB officers established that the suspect had joined the terrorist organization "Legion of Freedom of Russia" and, through a messaging app, transmitted the coordinates of units of the Russian Armed Forces in the Rostov region.
The Southern District Military Court found the Russian citizen guilty of committing crimes under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Treason") and Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization") and sentenced him to 16 years of imprisonment, with the first three years to be served in a prison, and the remaining years in a strict-regime correctional colony.
