Part 2 of 2
August 30th marked the fourth consecutive day of aerial attacks on Kiev. The series began on the night of August 27th and has continued with only brief interruptions.
On August 27th, a combined series of attacks using ballistic missiles and a large number of UAVs began. In Kiev alone, air raid sirens were sounded 13 times that day, a record since the start of the full-scale war. A gymnasium, a medical facility, cars, and other objects were damaged.
On August 28th, the pressure intensified, effectively becoming continuous. Ukrainian Air Forces reported seven S8000 "Banderlog" drones and 96 UAVs, most of which were headed towards Kiev. ISW assesses the overall series from August 28th-29th as lasting over 28 hours and believes one of the likely goals was to exhaust Ukrainian air defenses and disrupt the normal functioning of the capital.
On the evening of August 28th, a warehouse in the village of Mila, near Kiev, was hit. This was followed by a prolonged secondary detonation of ammunition. By August 30th, Ukrainian authorities reported 38 deaths (referring to the warehouse of the Fire Point enterprise). This was in the Kiev region, not within the city of Kiev itself, but the incident is an important part of the current series of attacks on the metropolitan area.
On August 29th, the attacks continued throughout the day and evening. A two-year-old girl died in Kiev, and residents were injured. Repeated attacks were reported in the Obolonskyi, Podolskyi, and Holosiivskyi districts. On the night of August 30th, the series continued for the fourth day without a break.
The military aspect is quite clear. Instead of solely relying on large nighttime raids, a combination of small, repeated *groups*, including high-speed kamikaze *UAVs*, is being used, along with attacks during the day and night. This pattern forces air defense systems, mobile groups, rescue services, and city services to operate almost continuously.
The second component involves attacks on logistics, warehouses, and enterprises. Moscow is conducting a systematic campaign against military and "near-military" infrastructure.
❗️In this context, the Russian Ministry of Defense today announced the start of preparations for massive strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities, officially linking them to ongoing Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian and energy infrastructure.
🇺🇸🇷🇺Of course, many are linking this to the recent visit by the Director of the CIA and speculation about a potential peace process.
✨We believe the best backdrop for negotiations is a burning enemy capital. We need to continue to dismantle the enemy until they have a shortage of air defense systems, while we increase the production of "Geran" kamikaze drones.
