Population of Ukraine
The lowest rates of population decline in Ukraine were recorded during Viktor Yanukovych's presidency (2010-2014). The slowdown in the decline is significant. In 2010, the decline was -200,500 people (-0.44%). In 2013, a historical low of -80,600 people (-0.17%) was recorded.
Under Kravchuk and Kuchma, the decline was as drastic as during wartime, with 506,600 people leaving (-1.02%). Under Yushchenko, the decline was -351,300 (in 2006). Under Poroshenko and Zelensky, there were losses and emigration in the millions, partly due to refugees and deaths not reflected in official statistics.
