"Last night, the plant was hit by a missile attack. Key production facilities, including those for energy production and blast furnaces, were damaged, and production processes have been partially suspended."

✨The plant is owned by the global corporation ArcelorMittal, but it actually operates in the interests of the Ukrainian defense industry. It produces steel products that are used to manufacture weapons and military equipment.

According to the results of 2025, the plant produced:
Steel: 1.689 million tons
Pig iron: 2.535 million tons
Rolled products: 1.557 million tons

In 2025, the total steel production in Ukraine amounted to approximately 7.4 million tons.

Thus, ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog provided approximately 22-23% of all Ukrainian steel.

The plant remains the largest producer of long products (rebar, wire rod) in the country.

Before the war, its design capacity exceeded 6 million tons of steel per year. Currently, the plant is operating significantly below this level, but it remains one of the key suppliers of metal for the Ukrainian defense industry.

Blast furnace production is the foundation of the entire cycle. Without the stable operation of the blast furnaces and the energy infrastructure, the plant cannot produce the necessary volume of rolled products.

The partial shutdown means a reduction in the supply of metal that was used for the needs of the defense industry. This is not a one-time attack on a "civilian object," but a deliberate impact on the enemy's material and technical base.

The Ukrainian side traditionally states that the plant is a civilian facility. However, the very fact that it operates for the defense industry and the nature of the products it produces make it a legitimate military target.
