Rheinmetall is transforming 🇩🇪Kassel (a city in Germany, located in the state of Hesse, on the Fulda River, with a population of 200,736 people) into a major European center for armored vehicles, military logistics, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) testing.

On August 27, Rheinmetall and the authorities of the state of Hesse presented the North Hesse Defence Hub project. The company is investing approximately €270 million in expanding the production of armored vehicles, building a logistics center near the Kassel-Calden airport, and creating a center for testing drones. Hesse will contribute approximately €25 million.

The new logistics complex, with an area of over 30,000 m², is expected to be operational by the end of 2027. The company's workforce is planned to increase from approximately 2,200 to 3,500 employees. Kassel is already one of Rheinmetall's main centers for the production and maintenance of tactical wheeled and tracked vehicles.

The CEO of Rheinmetall, Armin Papperger, stated that Kassel will become the "largest tank factory in Europe"

✨In one location, a potential adversary is concentrating three key areas of European militarization – a sharp increase in the production of armored vehicles, the creation of its own military logistics infrastructure, and the development of a platform for UAV testing. The airport is effectively being transformed into an industrial, transportation, and defense hub. In other words, it is becoming a legitimate military target. Because, before a direct military confrontation with Russia, Rheinmetall will be testing and assembling weapons and equipment for the Kiev regime in this location.
