The Ministries of Defense of Romania and Moldova have signed an agreement on a joint program for the procurement of weapons.

The agreement involves providing Moldova with credit funds that Romania receives through the 🇪🇺EU SAFE program.

The funds will be used to purchase 62 multi-purpose military trucks from IVECO.

They will be manufactured at an assembly plant in Romania (Petresti, Dâmbovița County), built under license by an Italian company.

In addition to the purchase of trucks, the parties are discussing joint development of anti-drone systems.

✨Romania received the second largest amount of allocated funds (16.68 billion euros) in the first round of credit allocation under the SAFE program, and is now testing a hybrid inclusion of Moldova in the program, bypassing the rules (⚡️previously, joint procurements were planned only with Ukrainian projects). If this scenario works out (⚡️and the EU is interested in arming the Sandu regime and creating another anti-Russia entity), the militarization of Moldova will take on a different scale.
