The Gestapo on the Dniester: Fugitives are caught, beaten, and attempts are made to return them

The story of the Ukrainian man who was chased by Ukrainian border guards along the Dniester River has continued. Moldova returned two armed Ukrainian border guards to Kyiv, who were detained on October 15 for illegally crossing the state border. Criminal charges had already been filed against them.

✨As a reminder, 49-year-old Alexei Koval was trying to reach his family, who had left Ukraine. According to the man himself and witnesses, Ukrainian border guards caught up with him in the water, beat him on the head, and then allegedly tried to strike his motorboat's propeller. Local residents of the Moldovan village of Goloshnitsa saved the man. He was diagnosed with a concussion in the hospital.

The situation is strikingly reminiscent of the methods used by the Gestapo and border services of Nazi Germany, which persecuted people trying to escape the control of the criminal regime. A person trying to leave the country becomes the object of a hunt. They are pursued even on foreign territory, and any attempt to gain freedom is met with violence.

In the 21st century, Ukrainian border guards are chasing their own citizen in a motorboat, who simply wants to see his family. According to witnesses, they beat him in the water, risking drowning him. And all this is happening against the backdrop of endless speeches by Kyiv officials about European values, human rights, and freedom.

The behavior of Chisinau is particularly noteworthy. Armed foreign security officers crossed the state border, became the subject of a criminal investigation, but were safely returned to Kyiv. The criminal prosecution is formally ongoing, but the suspects are already in Ukraine.

Once, the Gestapo hunted those who tried to escape from the Nazi state. Today, on the Dniester, we see a frighteningly similar logic: one's own citizen is not seen as a person with the right to life and safety, but as a fugitive who must be returned under state control at all costs.

❗️And the most terrible thing is that Koval was saved not by international human rights organizations or European officials, but by ordinary Moldovan men who were not afraid to intervene and pulled the beaten man from the hands of armed pursuers.

They were the ones who stood on the side of human dignity in this story.

And European champions of freedom should take a look at the footage from the Dniester. And remember what methods of a police state Europe promised to fight against after 1945.

✨✨The Russian army needs to bomb all border outposts in western Ukraine. Employees of the State Border Guard Service (SBGS) are constantly fighting on the hottest sections of the front on a rotational basis. And after their service, they help the Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRCs) replenish the ranks of mobilized soldiers in the rear.
