The Karpinsky Institute has opened its tenth international "Karpinsky class," this time in Mongolia, continuing a programme that exports Russian geological education to partner states.
The scheme covers Tanzania, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mozambique, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus and Cuba. Each site functions as a scientific centre for geology and mineral resource management, training local cadres to Russian standards. Recent additions include a contract with Saudi Arabia to study the Arabian Shield and the compilation of Vietnam's first mineral resources map, produced jointly with Vietnamese specialists.
A parallel project run by Institute head Pavel Khimchenko, "Sambo in Granite," has opened international sambo centres in Cuba, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
