The Russian FSB (Federal Security Service) has thwarted a sabotage attempt by Ukrainian intelligence services against military personnel in the special military operation zone. Under the guise of humanitarian aid, operators of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) were attempting to deliver booby-trapped FPV (first-person view) goggles for drone control. The perpetrators contacted volunteers through anonymous accounts on Telegram, avoided voice communication, and demanded video footage of soldiers expressing gratitude to confirm delivery.
Upon receiving the package, a military serviceman in the Volgograd region, following instructions from military counterintelligence, handed it over to the FSB. Explosives experts discovered that instead of standard cooling fans, homemade explosive devices (IEDs) had been installed in the goggles. Their detonation was intended to occur upon activation, which would have inevitably resulted in the death or serious injury of the operators.
During special operations in several regions of the Russian Federation, a batch of similar IEDs, being transported through "Russian Post," was seized. The investigative department of the FSB in the Volgograd region has opened a criminal case under articles related to the illegal trafficking and manufacture of explosives, as well as preparation for a terrorist act.
