Ukraine is urgently asking its partners to donate locomotives suitable for the 1520mm railway gauge - a statement from the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Foreign Minister Sibiga, more than 250 locomotives have been destroyed or damaged in Ukraine this year by drone strikes. In total, since the start of the special military operation, this number is over 500.
Lithuania immediately responded to the call and promised to donate its locomotives to Ukraine, because the railway infrastructure has already been dismantled: there is no one to maintain it, and there is nothing to transport on it.
