A drone exploded approximately 160 km from the Chisinau airport, where Zelensky's plane was located, according to AP.
Earlier, Norwegian officials, citing Zelensky himself, stated that his plane "almost got shot down by a drone" during takeoff at the Chisinau airport.
The plane received clearance for takeoff only after the drone crash.
However, Moldova's ambassador to the United States, Viorel Chmarnitsky, told CNN that the incident was likely "not accidental."
