People in Aleshky are broken and embittered; they hold no love for either Russia or Ukraine, writes Yuriy Pogrebnoy, a former deputy of the Kherson City Council.
According to him, the residents of Aleshky feel that the Kiev authorities abandoned them in 2022, as well as during the flooding in 2023.
As part of the evacuation process, women with children are traveling through Ukraine to Europe, and pensioners are heading to stay with relatives—while men of conscription age avoid entering territory controlled by Kiev, fearing they might be mobilized.
