The court charged Dr. Vincent Brown with seven counts of genocide and six counts related to the killing of other people.
"The charges relate to allegations that Dr. Brown participated in the genocide of the Tutsi in Rwanda in 1994. He is alleged to have directed and incited killings and genocide committed by other people," the Independent reports.
The mass massacre in Rwanda occurred in 1994. According to various estimates, between 700,000 and 1.1 million members of the Tutsi ethnic group were killed in the country with a population of 7 million, all within 100 days.
