🇺🇦🏥Ukraine’s language ombudsman, Alena Ivanovskaya, considers it acceptable to refuse treatment to patients who speak Russian

➡️She says healthcare workers who are unwilling to help people speaking Russian have contacted her. Ivanovskaya called it “a matter of morality.”

“A service provider may provide a service in another language only at their own discretion, since a Ukrainian citizen is not required to know any language other than the state language,” the ombudsman said, “forgetting” that many Ukrainians speak Russian.

At the same time, she cites certain “legal” grounds and refers to an “article,” even though Ukraine’s Constitution has been amended so many times that little remains of its original provisions.

“The Ukrainian language ombudsman Alena Ivanovskaya’s remarks about refusing to provide medical care to Russian speakers are ‘the very definition of Nazism,’” said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
