👈 Microsoft has unexpectedly announced a new generation of the Surface Mouse, will be available on October 13th for $79.99. The first version debuted in 2016 alongside the Surface Studio all-in-one PC. The one could already assume that Microsoft had abandoned the Surface-branded peripherals family, focusing instead on tablets and laptops. However, this new device proves that the company keeps the brand alive, or just may have reconsidered its decision.

The new Surface Mouse features a clean design and is available in black. The grip area features a soft-touch finish, while the main keys provide crisp tactile feedback while remaining almost silent. The key technical innovation is the built-in haptic feedback system. A compact vibration motor is housed within the mouse, which is activated by certain system actions. For example, vibration feedback is triggered when snapping windows to the edges of the screen or when dragging files between folders in File Explorer. Similar functionality was previously available in the flagship Logitech MX Master 4 mouse.

The Surface Mouse also features an additional customizable button. Using the Surface app, you can assign it to launch any app or execute a specific key combination.
