๐ Google has released Chrome 154, bringing new AI features, tighter local network protections, and 108 security fixes. The browser now lets users interact with an AI agent from the address bar or New Tab page, while US shoppers can try Gemini powered virtual fitting tools in some online stores. iPhone and iPad users also gain real time voice chat with Gemini.
The update removes several Privacy Sandbox APIs, including Topics and Protected Audience, after Chrome kept support for third party cookies. On Android, Chrome adds Local Network Protection, which asks for extra approval before apps reach intranet devices. Background Fetch also gets stricter rules, including Local Network Access permission and CORS checks, to reduce abuse against routers, printers, and other local devices.
Chrome 154 also introduces new web tools for developers, safer HTTP prompts, and better autofill controls.
Google fixed 11 critical flaws, including use after free and buffer overflow bugs. The next version, Chrome 155, is scheduled for October 6.
