🔵Microsoft is reportedly working on Windows 11 version 27H2, a feature update expected in the second half of 2027. The release is based on an updated codebase, will support Intel’s Advanced Performance Extensions (APX), and may introduce wallpapers tailored to different editions.

The update would follow Microsoft’s three-year cycle for releases built on new code. Version 24H2 was the latest update using a refreshed codebase; versions 25H2 and 26H2 instead shared that foundation and arrived as enablement packages, activating features delivered through cumulative updates.

APX support is intended to improve 64-bit performance by doubling the number of general-purpose registers. Wallpapers could be revealed at Ignite 2026. Pro may get a design resembling today’s Bloom theme, while consumer editions may offer variations for gaming, productivity, content creation, and performance.

Microsoft has not said when Insiders can begin testing 27H2. It remains unclear whether the update will change Windows 11’s minimum requirements.
