⚙️Microsoft will expand memory integrity protection across eligible Windows devices beginning in October 2026. Windows quality updates will enable the feature by default on supported systems, with little or no extra setup. The rollout will also enable Virtualization-based Security, or VBS, on devices that do not already use it.

Before turning on memory integrity, Windows will check hardware capabilities, compatibility, and performance to confirm device readiness. Microsoft says existing administrator and user settings will stay in place, so devices with memory integrity already disabled will not change automatically. IT teams and users can still review and enable the feature through Windows security and management tools.

Memory integrity helps block attacks that target the Windows kernel by allowing only trusted kernel-mode code and drivers to run.
